DANE Publishing House Incorporated and its new K to 12 Program Integrated Platform

I used to teach Computer Education for 6 years when I was still single. I can't imagine that what I used to study when I was still in College will be  the same subject matter that I will be teaching my High School students before. Change is inevitable and we cannot do something about it.

Same thing happened when the Philippines adopted the K to 12 Basic Education Program in 2012. The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education ( six years of primary education, four years, of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

To help with the implementation of the program, DepEd engaged  partnerships with Technical Vocational Education and Training and use their existing facilities and teach staff starting SY 2016-2017.

Private companies are also doing their share in supporting the program. One company that I know is DANE Publishing House Incorporated.

DANE Publishing House Incorporated has been doing a noble cause for education for the last twenty seven years. They have been creating educational materials for grade school and high school for both private and public schools. Now, as the educational system in our country has adopted the K12 system, they have gone to create a new platform for education.

DANE Publishing’s website, http://www.danepublishing.com/blog aims to expand the pool of knowledge in which they provide for both students and teachers. The blog contains current resources for them to use. To help DANE reach more individuals and do more for education, please like their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/danepublishing and their blog, and share your knowledge!

Janelle's 9th Recording Party

My eldest just turned 9 years old last December 17. She's no longer our baby anymore. As she enter into another phase in her life as a tweener, we decided to come up with something new, something that she and her friends will enjoy and will experience  a new activity together. They love to sing so we came up with a recording birthday party.

INVITATION - DIY by Mommy JLo

A DIY project for me, made with love using photoshop and printed it at a nearby photo developing center.  The invites comes with a free microphone which I bought from CD-R King. The microphone symbolizes music, recording and fun. Also attached in the invitation is the Program of Activities, it will be first time for them, so I made sure that the parents would be aware on what would happen during the event.

 PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES

VENUE - Studio Z Audio Productions and Recording Studios / 8th Notes Studios

We held the recording session at Studio Z Audio Productions and Recording Studios owned by hubby's friend and well known record producer / arranger Mr. Paolo Zarate. Studio Z is located at Unit 206 and 207 Jajaj bldg 109 Panay ave. South Triangle (Beside the Back of Crossings/Nationalbookstore Quezon Ave.), Quezon City, Philippines. Or you may give them a call at   416-6665 / 0917-5227329 / 09174005567

Five of her friends together with her sister recorded two songs One Thing by One Directions and Love Story by Taylor Swift.

FOOD - Greenwich Delivery

While the sound engineer mixes their tracks, we proceeded to 8th Notes Studios which is just beside Studio Z for the merienda. I ordered Greenwich's barkada meal (spaghetti, chicken and pizza) with drinks.

The table is also a DIY project and styled by me and my dear friend Mimi. I borrowed a zebra print table cloth from Ms. Jacque Tan of partyboosters http://partyboosters.multiply.com to compelement with our theme. Thanks to Jacque.

Letter Standee on the table and on the stage c/o Wooden Kiddie Stools and a Lot More! www.facebook.com/woodenkiddiestools www.woodenkiddiestools.multiply.com . Syempre pa patronize your own products. :-)

PRESENTATION - Janelle and the Marian Belles

The girls presented a dance number using their track already. Janelle and her friends choreographed the presentation. K Snaps, our official photographer and videographer prepared a Music Video. Excited much about this! Can't wait to see this...

CAKE / DONUT POPS - Mister Donut

No budget for the cakes since it will be a small party. Just bought 3 pcs mini donut cakes from Mister Donut at 45 pesos each, and 50 pcs donut pops at 5 pesos each.

PHOTORAPHER / VIDEOGRAPHER - K Snaps www.facebook.com/KSnaps

This is really where the budget goes. At first I just wanted to hire a photographer since it will just be a small party. But what is a recording party with presentation without a music video? So I asked Kathy to provide also the video coverage.

So this is it. Will post the link to the official photo album soon as well as the music video as soon as I get them from K Snaps.

Darna! : Am I really a Supermom?

Whenever bloggers feature me on their blogs as a mompreneur, they seems to come up with the same title. Am I really a Supermom?

My first blog feature was from Women's Central in 2011 with a title Super Wo-Mom: Jen and Wooden Kiddie Stools

http://womenscentral.blogspot.com/2011/05/super-wo-mom-jen-and-wooden-kiddie.html

and just recently Bebengisms featured me on her site  as a mompreneur with a title Wanted: Supermom + Wooden Kiddie Stools Giveaway

http://www.bebengisms.blogspot.com/2012/09/wanted-supermom-wooden-kiddie-stools.html#more

Thefreedictionary.com defined Supermom as :

: an exemplary mother; also : a woman who performs the traditional duties of housekeeping and child-rearing while also having a full-time job

So, how do i fair here? I'm not sure if I was able to perform well the "traditional duties of housekeeping" mentioned here, I am not a domesticated person. I don't cook, I don't wash laundry and  I don't wash dishes (well I do sometimes, depending on the situation :-)

But yes I am also a wife with a full-time job, I have my own business,  I am a member of a chorale group, I am a singer / performer, I am a graphic artist, I am a hobbyist, I am an Events Planner, I am an Educator (I used to be) and the so many other roles I am playing.

I belong to this network of mompreneurs juggling the many characters and personalities their wearing. And If I am a supermom, they're also supermoms, and all moms are supermoms!
And to all my supermom friends, let us all unite and sabay sabay sumigaw ng "Ding ang Bato! Darna!"

Multiply's new e-commerce look

This is a message from Multiply HQ in Jakarta. I think there will be a lot of disappointments from buyers and of course sellers as well. This only means that I need to register my www.woodenkiddiestools.multiply.com as a Multiply Trusted Seller Account, which costs (as of to date) 3,000 per year.

So what happens now?

Hello. Stefan here, writing you from Multiply HQ in Jakarta, Indonesia.

As most of you are probably aware, Multiply's mission has evolved over the past year and a half to become the biggest and most beloved ecommerce marketplace in two very exciting markets, Indonesia and the Philippines. As our focus has shifted, we have reviewed all of our operations, and made some decisions that will affect everyone here.

  • From December 1st, we will unfortunately no longer be able to support Multiply in its current form - notably we will be removing the social networking and content sharing part of Multiply (photos, videos, blogs, social messaging, etc.). We have decided to discontinue providing and hosting these services, as we have concluded that other Internet sites who are committed to social networking services will do a better job serving you than we can.
  • For our existing users of social networking features, we will be providing easy ways for you to either download your stuff (photos, blogs, content, etc), or migrate it to other online services. We'll announce the precise details shortly. It will be your choice whether to download, migrate or just let your content lapse (and get deleted).
  • For our existing ecommerce users (both buyers and sellers) in Indonesia and the Philippines, there will be no action required.
  • Regarding any existing Multiply Premium subscriptions we will refund any unused balance, and apologize for any inconvenience this will cause. Please contact customer service to request a refund. Note that this is for Multiply Premium, not the ecommerce related Multiply Trust product.

I am aware of how disruptive this news may be, and understand the disappointment that it may cause. Ultimately this was a business decision, critical to our to success moving forward. Instead, we are excited to pursue our own mission to give the 350 million consumers in Indonesia and the Philippines a great way to buy and sell items online. Our singular focus now is for Multiply to retain its status as a vibrant e-commerce destination in Southeast Asia in the years ahead.

I suspect that many of you will not like this news, and am sorry to have to deliver it now. I hope that you will be able to understand the reasons for our decision and thank you for being a part of the Multiply community over the past eight years.
